Every other attempt in my world for a home didn't end with anything good. I never belonged in my world - doubt anyone has, where I'm from.

Why're you so certain sacrifice and loss has to be the first go-to option instead of fighting to get a better outcome? Hell, the people who don't want to leave? They've fought for people to go home, too, same as anyone else.
